A scene like this is something the 3rd form desperately needed. My only gander of why this scene was removed may have been just for the whole "cool down" idea. While granted, as I've heard, his transition from 2nd to 3rd taxed his body greatly, so I think this scene could have worked. Think that he tried to cool his own body down by vomiting blood, but his body still overheats, forcing him to retreat into the ocean. Plus, you could see this as a sort of "payoff" to the 2nd form's gill bleeding, just taken to full effect.

This would have worked better as a failed early attempt to use the atomic breath, he tries to attack the helicopters but since his throat isn't properly developed enough to handle the energy it just injures him and makes him throw up.

I would have loved to have seen this in the movie

Many aquatic creatures who shift to a land form need to eject the liquid from their lungs in order to function properly. If he didn't even have lungs, then his body would need to make room for said lung development, hence the ejection of blood. Would have been a great precursor. However, I believe that the scene was dropped as Godzilla roars before he ejects the blood, therefore making it a bit pointless to eject the blood and "have formed lungs" since he already roared.

I really wish this made the cut. Even when I saw this in the theatre I thought it was a bit awkward that the third form just stands there stationary while the choppers engage, disengage, then wait for commands.
