Just center pull one, and pull the other from the outside.

Hi Lori, I suspect that after they balled up a cake to the correct yardage, the machine cuts the yarn and just starts a new cake from wherever it left off so there's no wastage but of course the sequence may not be uniform. Someone needs to figure out better how long each colour should be so it always ends and begins at the same colour. At least that's what I would do

Always check the numbers on your skeins of yarn and make sure that you get the same numbers just recently they started where you didn't have to do that but from the time I have always worked with yarn since I was in junior high school we always check the lot numbers and make sure that they were the same so the project would come out the way it needed needs to

Nah they're the same, they were just wound differently. You can center pull one and use the outside of the other, or else just re-wind the cake from the outside. By the time you're done, it'll look the same as your other cake. It's a pain and maybe time consuming but definitely a simple, straightforward fix.

Thanks. Something I will pay attention to on my next shawl with Caron yarn. The knots in the last cakes makes me think I'm not going to buy this brand again.

You should match lot numbers for projects.

I've noticed this when they started making cakes. I've also noticed, that if purchased at the same time, get 1 in the REVERSE, because usually, when you pull from the inside the OUTSIDE of the beginning cake, ACTUALLY matches the the INSIDE or OUTSIDE of the next skein, or VICE VERSA. Which makes it EASIER when adding the next skein, because MORE LIKELY THAN NOT, the interior of the NEWER skein will only have a VERY SHORT beginning match.

Thanks for pointing out the direction of the colour sequence. The importance is that the colour shades are identical.. you can start from the outside with one, and then start from the centre for the other.

Hi Lori! The beach glass color looks very different (not just wond backwards) - the right side ball is much more vibrant!
