I was given a 18 loop start from a net maker from Port Arthur Texas and he alsotouhjt me how to tie the Flying Dutchman Knot, Using the 18 loop start and the knolage he taught me , I tied a 4 foot hanging cast net. great sense of accomplishment and great therapy, is calming while tiring a cast net ! Thanks for keeping net timing alive and sharing your knolage with us ! ! !

I have knitted cast nets since I was 12. I am 63 now. I use the flying Dutchman too. I do a few things a little different but the end result is the same.

Great tutorial. To mark the wideners i use colored small paper clips that the wife found at the craft store.

I’ve never tried tying my own net before but honestly after your step by step talk through was making me want to try it. You are great teaching tards like me to try something that was scary or hard rather to attempt. Thank you sir. The explaining process you did and showed was great.
