yes and no. that's super sentai, and the first transforming mecha showed up about 3-4 series into it. also, many, many transforming robots exist. Yusha'ou Gaogaigar, Dangaioh, might Gaine, Yusha exkasier, ect. Many super-robot shows from that time and recently had the hero bot be a combiner type to form.
