It's like a mandatory tradition in the Philippines to drink this after drinking tons of hard liqour. We call it "washing". The aftermath depends on each person, it could be a good nights rest, or the worst morning of your life.

Red Horse is not really about the flavor, its about the alcohol content. Have a lot of problems, a heartbreak maybe, you want to forget something? Drink red horse. lol

We use to get this stuff all the time when I was stationed in Okinawa. It was really cheap, too, so you got bang for your buck. They were a lot easier to drink the more you had lol

I like San Miguel better. I had it when I was on a trip to the Philippines. Sam Miguel is like the better tasting Budweiser or Coors of Philippines, Red Horse is like Miller High Life or Bud Ice.

OH MY GOD! When I was in the Navy 87 and went to Subic Bay, you could get this in a 24oz bottle for 50 -75 cents a bottle. The company had no quality control, so you could get a bottle with a high % or normal. I could tell you stories for days about my nights getting drunk on this stuff. I don't think I ever had a mixed drink or any kind of hard liquor during those nights. Red Horse was so much cheaper and abundant. Saw this at the exchange and had to get it!

The Spanish and Filipino San Miguel breweries have been separate companies since the 1950's.

I enjoyed this review and I made a special effort to find some. So far no luck. A few Asian store owners had heard of it but the local distributors don't carry it.

Red horse cannot be compared to heineken when it comes to alcohol content. When you drink heineken in the philippines they say heinaku. Its an expression of not satisfied.

Red Horse is a blast from the past for most Filipinos who were born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's. It's like a time machine. Ask every middle aged Filipinos about Red Horse and we all have funny, tragic and glorious stories to tell behind this legendary beer.
