When this came into the charts in 1983 it was difficult to say whether you liked it or not as it was so different to anything else on the air at the time. The first time you heard it your immediate impression was, "What the hell was that?". It still sounds fresh today.

Malcolm really should be reccognized for his innovative musical style and his very important contribution to hip hop.

Say what you want about Malcolm McClaren, but he was part of taking this new music INTERNATIONAL and something everybody wanted some of. When this song came out, we completely lost our minds -- in Nashville, Tennessee.

A very underatted song that i am amazed no producers have tried to mess with.

What an innovative man! Way ahead of his time, and was one of the reasons why hip hop is so big now!

before this was a top 10 hit in the UK back in 1983 we had never heard scratchin'. malcolm put hip hop culture on the british musical radar, and we have loved hip hop ever since.
