I like how this channel is called 'The Drum Thing' yet is mostly about cymbals

I have never and won't ever play the drums. But I'll know what cymbals to buy my drummer friends.

These cybals are like a good friend group of pensioners. Sure they might be in their eighties, worn by life, but when they come to hang out together they still somehow have a blast

if anyone's wondering, an easy way to stop a crack from spreading on literally anything is to drill a big honkin hole centered right at the end of that crack, so the drill is taking half crack and half healthy material. That should give it enough relief to keep it in one piece until you get to removing the entire damaged bit.

Maybe it’s because I’m a guitarist, but these damaged cymbals still sound excellent. Who cares what an instrument looks like? It’s about sound

This is amazing. Cymbals must be the only musical instrument that still has value and is perfectly playable even if it breaks. Drums are incredible, man.

If there’s anything I’ve learned from this channel it’s that cymbal sound really is largely determined by what it’s made of over shape. Quasimodo had a full amputation and he’s still killin it

You thoroughly inspired me. I found a nicely repaired 1977 18” 2002 and purchased it for less than $100. It sounds so great the repair adds some individuality for sure!

For how thrashed some of those cymbals are, they sound hella good! I was genuinely surprised at Quasimodo there.
