I have been cluttery ever since college. I look at it, feel overwhelmed, move it to another room. Tubs and tubs of things I hardly use in my garage. Little by little I am getting rid of things and getting organized. I know I have a hard time letting go of things! I finally made a few piles: keep, sell, donate, or throw out. I am a work in progress but do a little each week to help myself

I've always thought the state of my house was the mirror to my inner self. This is very informative.

Mine was learned. My parents lived in the depression so I was taught to keep everything that still had use in it.

I turned in my resignation letter this week and suddenly I got the energy to declutter my entire home. I had been dealing with situational depression due to my job but instantly when the decision was made to finally leave this job.. it was like I instantly felt 100x lighter!

I think that I fall into most of these categories! The exception is number 4: my mum used to be ruthless about getting rid of things - including dolls before I was ready to let go. That's when I started clinging onto things, so tightly.
