I think we already know why these are the most effective movements for muscle mass. There compound movements hitting multiple muscles at once and hence are the most efficient way to target your muscles for overall growth. And there also the biggest muscles so targeting these will also lead to a higher testosterone response and further facilitate muscle growth.
