The light test is useful for standard stock if you can identify the unique diffuse pattern a light will generate from the black layer. It is very reliable.

What I've noticed is authentic cards apply a texture to the light that gets through, almost like a bark texture. Some of my cards look convincing but don't have this so I'm a little worried about them.

I found a fighting energy 1st edition that I thought was fake due to the light test fail, crazy thing is, it has another 1st edition stamp where actual Pokémon 1st editions have the stamp. Glad I watched this!!! Had me scared that a lot more of my cards were fake.

I was beginning to think I was crazy because a lot of people I talked to rely solely on this test and I'm like.... No there are some of them authentic cards that you can see through.

Do some rainbow vstar ‘fail’ the light test but are real?

I thought the light test was to compare cards that are of the same type and comparing differences to see if one is fake

My real vmax flareon lets zero light through, just received a fake charizard vmax where it clearly shines through.

Can someone please help me? i did the test and this works fine with Eng cards, but when i tried with 3 holos ex in Japanese version the light pass. Its common in japanese cards? I tried also with one Holo Trainer from sparks and happened too

I performed the light test with my phone on three different non-holo cards from three different sets. I could not see the flash light shining through the card unless i held it right against the card. Even then, compared to a fake, the light is very dim.

I got like 10 pokemon packs 2 days ago and i was worried that they were all fake, but when i ripped a few of them and i was confused, because they had the black thing when ripped, so thanks for letting me knoe that i didnt waste like 20 dollars
