Personally, I really liked the combat. The combat in this game actually makes perfect sense when you read the books and get a glimpse into how Witchers train-- apparently, their combat training consists of them memorizing countless combos and sword sequences to the point where they can execute them without thought, so the only thing a Witcher would have to really think about is his positioning and the timing between combos. Once you get the "do combo-->dodge away if need be" rhythm down, you really do feel like a Witcher, able to dispatch whole groups of enemies with calm collectedness.

Witcher 1 has the best atmosphere and immersion. Especially the fourth chapter is a thing of beauty.

just finished the first witcher and its truly amazing, and without this vid i would never have considered playing the first 2

I just started this game, and yeah the combat is a little wonky at first, but after you get use to it' you barely notice it. Kind of like Dragon Age: Origins meets Skyrim.

This game is beautiful, and to me it have the best atmosphere of the trilogy, I love every zone of the game, the combat system is bad but at the same time is fun to watch how Geralt moves the sword, the story is awesome and you always want to now what is going to happen, if you are fan of The Witcher this game is a must have just like The Witcher 2 and 3.

I was put off at first too but after a few hours I was hooked, 70+ hour playthrough but I enjoyed it every bit . Not to mention I paid like a dollar for it, I felt like I robbed someone for that value.

Already chapter 3 now and I love this game. The only issue I have with the game is that unique characters don't have unique model except the main ones.

They need to remaster the first 2 for the upcoming PlayStation. I’d buy them in a heartbeat with how good Witcher 3 was

Once I got used to the combat and graphics I ended up loving it, planning on doing a second playtrough.

Thanks man, this really helped me make up my mind! I'll definitely give the first game a go before going for the other two. The biggest peeve I have with the first one is the combat, but if the story really as good as you say I'll probably be able to stick through with it.
