Great low down Mitch, and a collective wisdom which I must begin to follow as I develops my personal kit. Thank you again. Atb, Harry

You didn't mention what's in the other pouch you sewed on. The "link loop life", the strap with the carabineer. What did you call it? Can you show how it's used to cross a river?

I recently bought an 88ltr bag, with exactly that intention. However, on putting all my stuff in the bag, its so heavy I can hardly carry it all ! lol. That bag of yours as good as it is, how much does it weigh ?? It looks heavier than mine !

love that alice pack, IMO ... bugging out will only work with a support system in place, such as Cache or a prepared location. i see lots of people just assuming they will hunt/fish for food while traveling, which is not very realistic in a SHTF situation.

Bug out in the sense of quick and light, no, simply to much.

What's the point of carrying a ffd (Israeli dressing) in a vacuum pack? If you ever needed it, you would need it immediately. It should be kept on you when out and about.

Good mods on that fella, made a good pack better.. Too right, the sawyer is a no brainer; your covered for a lifetime of water purification for £20.

What watch is that?

Looks heavy but worth it.
johnmcgrath2616 (4 hours ago)
People's comments about the weight need to be in context. You train with weight, you have a location and other like mined buddies and once at location you are self-sufficient with that pack.

What are those straps mate?

Part 1 was very good, making coffee for her that must be ignored before I settle in for part 2 :-)

I had an Alice pack. It screwed my back up.
