the guy in the train was Woodcock. He worked for Mr. E. H. Harriman of the Union Pacific Railroad.

I watched this film with my girlfriend last night. I saw this scene, and I couldn't believe it. I must have watched this scene half a dozen times, rewinding each time. Doing a bit of googling this morning, I learned that they constructed the train car out of balsa wood for the explosion. Even with that precaution the stunt men were fortunate they weren't killed or maimed. That was a massive explosion, and they were so close it's nuts. Holy crap!

Every time I watch it, I know the line is coming -- but it still makes me laugh as hard as the first time: "Think ya' used enough dynamite there, Butch?!". Always good for a belly laugh!

"Well, that oughta do it..."

"You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

Have replayed this dozens of times. Still don't know how the stuntmen survived it.
