From what I see, the pilot had superior character design, whereas the rest of the series possessed animation more fluid than mercury at room temperature.

To me pilot look like it could have been an adult cartoon while the final project looks like a cartoon for kids.

Why they changed mantis to cricket if it's still a mantis

The pilot designs look like a cute indie comic, which like.. of course. But i always loved how the final designs looked like chewy, shiny, rubbery toys. Such a tactile show. I loved it so much.

Pilot is way better looking, the aesthetic of this show reminds me of the inside of a greasy happy meal box left in the garbage

Had this show come out in the 90s/mid-2000s era, it woulda had a better chance to cook. This is why I cannot stand beaurocratic meddling in this industry, if left untouched "Pig, Goat, Banana, Mantis" could've been the next big hit after "The Loud House" before it turned to crap. In a way, it'd be Nick's own "Adventure Time" type cartoon due to the wild adventures these four have and I pesonally liked how in every episode where each character does their own thing, it eventually ties them all together into one cohesive story. Hopefully the creator can bring this back but under a different network or just revamp the show on youtube.

I honestly had soft spot for this cartoon series, yes… it’s not perfect, but it was entertaining in its own way.

Wow…Mantis rolls off the tongue SO much better…and the character designs weren’t always so…gross….this show might’ve had some actual potential, what a shame.

Pig goat banana cricket is like one of the most visually interesting shows to come out of recent times just with style alone I never truly understood why people hated it that much

The reason why Mantis was changed into a Cricket in the actual show is because I guess Nickelodeon had a rule that no TV shows have the same character since Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness had their own Mantis.

The pilot designs look almost Ren & Stimpy inspired, while the final designs look like those twitter/tumblr redesigns where everyone has severe rosacea.

The fact the pilot looks far superior than the final is so sad to see
