I always identified as brown skin and it wasn’t until social media and moving down south I heard a different narrative…I still choose to identify as brown skin as I feel that is the best description of my skin tone

Girl, I feel you I don't understand why braiders have so much beef with 4c hair like it's your job why do I have to accommodate you to do my hair

my mom is light skin and my dad is brown skin. However, I was dark skin as a kid :| growing up I turned brown skin naturally. Btw, I'm a man & my sisters r light skin.

I will add this, in my experience it's been mainly non black men that seem more interested in me. Ironically when this happens and they see it and or know this it seems to annoy them. It seems that black men feel that only they can pursue non black women and that black women dating outside the black community is taboo in their small, ignorant minds. Just look at black male celebrities (pro sports, music, corporate world); they rarely date black women like themselves.

Thank you for addressing these important issues.

And one thing I’ve noticed is light brown girls who have 3c or 4a hair are considered “light skin” cos people always wanna swear they’re mixed cos if their hair but when you light brown with 4c haur then you’re dark skin in everyone’s eyes it’s weird

i agree about the colorism code, watching certain colorism content was very poisonous for me and I had developed insecurities that weren't even present before
