At least this was in the daylight. Decades ago my brother was a car knocker in St. Louis just south of downtown, and one night they had a train go into emergency while crossing the MacArthur bridge over the Mississippi near the yards. He drew the short straw and had to walk the train over the river, and each step he took he could see the water 100' below him in the dark.

A full 40 seconds for this train to stop should send a message to those who choose to beat the train at a level crossing.

Been there, done that! lol It looks like a low hanging air hose struck the diamond, uncoupling the glad-hands causing the emergency application of the brakes. Bummer!

Nice catch! Seen them a lot around here in Rocky Mount! And for some reason, 5:20 they always seem to go into emergency or stop at the most inconvenient spots. I was out with a crew collecting cars in Portsmouth VA and the rail runs parallel with the road around the naval base. So factor in holiday weekend and getting about 35 40 grain cars and you have some pissed people!! Btw, good footage!!
