I had a former girlfriend who had (has) spend much time living in Africa, and as a gift I bought her Riefenstahl’s beautiful coffee table book “Last Of The Nuba” - I had always meant to get around to seeing “Triumph Of The Will”, but I feel less inclined these days as I see certain elements of fascism and racism creeping back into our own society, but that’s just my own perspective. I commend you for reviewing such a controversial film - take care Mike..

The full German original Triumph der Willens is now taken down by Netflix. Do you know the reasoning (if any) behind this?

Wow you’ve really dug out some cool stuff throughout this series. So many films I haven’t heard of. This sounds very interesting. Great back story and history, as always!

Hitlers mustache was an ancient Germanic style of moustache. Hitlers message was one of unity and social dedication to patriotism.

It's not that this movie isn't historic - it’s just that I don't think anything is gained at this point watching or studying it - we already know about propaganda and how it’s used - and it wasn't the first film to do that - so film schools/scholars just seem to be over fascinated with the movie - I had to watch/study it in my film school, too. I think Man with the Movie Camera is more fascinating and without having to revel in Nazi imagery (my opinion).

interesting Mike. A good film to have around I'd say so we can watch out for that kind of evil if it ever rears it's head again.

Her first great acclaim was an award winning mountaineering fantasy film. Her fame brought her to hitlers attention.
