IMHO If you can't afford to purchase the contract outright, without financing, you shouldn't be buying DVC. The interest expense is way too much.

Interesting information. I am curious how things would change if you have a larger family then the quintessential family of four that this country is built around. We experienced this when we traveled to Disney with a family of 5. Some rooms can't accommodate 5 sleeping areas in one room. The rooms that can sleep 5,6 or 7 are usually much much pricier. If you tried to book a cheaper resort you may then have to book two rooms there to fit your entire family which you would have to weigh against a more expensive room at a nicer resort that could fit your entire group in one room.

26 grand non financed? I’m going to say most nearly all don’t have that kind money lying around to plunk down on a vacation package.

So, this has make me realize that the price difference between direct and resale isn’t as big as I thought once you factor in maintenance fees. And the difference gets smaller as the maintenance cost gets bigger.
