The main issue is that the cost to separate the nickel from the copper is more than the profit from the metal price increase.

I called the bank and I'm picking up a box today.

I put all change in a coffee can and cash it in periodically - I put a separate coffee can out to put nickels only given the value of nickels exceeds its face value...

If you look on sites like APMEX, JM, etc $100 will get you like 30 troy oz of copper rounds. These boxes contain 240 troy oz of copper and 80 troy oz of nickel.

I do this with Pennie’s, the nickels are just too heavy and take up too much space to justify it right now. The copper Pennie’s are already at about 3x face, nickels aren’t even at 2x yet, i hope it does work out for you. :) btw i view Pennie’s the same ask you as in its literally risk free, as long as you’re not paying more than fv for them. People already do sell them for their actual value online, but for now that’s kinda dumb imo to buy them that way while you can still get them from the bank for face
