So, I wasn't sure myself... but I just did a test, and whenever you're connected to the mailbox it immediately knows when a new message has arrived. There are also no retrieval time settings on the mailbox. It just knows whenever there's a new arrival.

Ok thanks, I'm wondering how it works with POP accounts. Usually it only retrieves mail in certain time intervals. The phone I currently have ony retieves mail every 30 minutes. I looked on-line at the Nokia N97 user manual but it doesn't mention the time intervals. Since you are using IMAP4, it constantly retrieves your mail instantly.

I have a question regarding E-mail on the N97. I use a pop E-mail account on my E90 and the phone is set-up to retrieve my E-mail automatically every 30 minutes. I would prefer shorter intervals (every 5 minutes or so) but that is not possible on the E90.

hahaha! There were several reasons why I didn't get the iPhone... Period. One being the lack of physical keyboard, lack of built in tethering ability, crappy camera, no front facing camera, and it was locked.
