Puts up that front again and collapses, saying "big sister is fine" truly broke me, I saw myself in him before but that was the moment that hit me hard. Being trans is so complicated, I want, truly, to be seen as the man I am, but that feeling of having someone meaning well misgendering you in a way that makes it clear they don't really see you for you, only to pivot and correct themselves, and you tell them it's fine because you don't want a conflict but really it breaks you

Thank fucking lord someone is getting the message out there. Fire Punch is such a challenging piece of media, but it is fantastic in so many ways. I'm glad someone was able to properly give a voice to this scene and throw it out there for more people to talk about.

I like how the world is set up so that the suppression of different in the world doesn’t lead to transphobia but it’s so suppressed that no one even has a word or concept to understand it so the only point of view the characters get is how they are only able to explain it with their words and their experiences which leaves only that as the baseline for other characters to understand it.

Fire Punch is different, it's special, it's genuinely a journey like no other. I love this manga.

i love how i can hear your voice wavering. that sounds a bit weird, but well. i can’t even think about my own experience without crying. hearing you talk about something so obviously affecting to you hurt something good. it’s the hurt of being seen.
