It took until Drifloon Theater for me to go 'hang on'

I was taken out when Mae said "stupid f***ing idiot. it's Jeff the murderer." Video essays from an alternate universe needs to be a genre on YouTube lol

I love how many layers of dumbassery there is to Stitcher, specifically on the conceptual level of a guy who is a "master of silence" who physically can no longer speak being created as the persona for a RAP MUSICIAN??? Like what, does Steven take his stitches out to eat and record his raps before he puts them back in??? It's so silly and I love it

moved to tears over Gabbit Rabbit. "you have to be a big kid, even if it's hard. that's what big kids do" is on the same level as the "life is worth living even if it hurts you" quote from metal gear ghost babel or "despite everything, it's still you" from undertale. Fills me with so much emotion that i instinctively burst out crying just thinking about it

Gather-Rabbit hit some weird place in my soul, I think because I'm genuinely happy the "original" story didn't have a horror twist. It's just the story of a little girl freeing herself from abuse. It fills me with some kind of bittersweet melancholy, and makes me want to help this poor little rabbit-girl find someplace safe and kind.

There is a genuine poignancy to the "original" version of Gather-Rabbits, from Alyssa's art to the photos to the rambling and increasingly uncomfortable text, which really does nail the feeling of so many little indie horror games which are clearly an expression of very personal pain and trauma, and I'm not gonna lie, it really gets to me. As in I am legitimately getting weirdly teary-eyed over a fake creepypasta and, yes, that is more than a little absurd, but I think that also speaks to the appeal of weird niche amateur internet art and how well you managed to capture it. Mae was right: If this were real, it would not be forgotten.

"Steven the Stitcher" (real name unknown), was born in the suburbs of South Dakota to a dysfunctional and violent set of parents. Bullied both at home and at school for his irregullarly gravely voice, Steven had no choice but to become a master of silence.

even as someone who knows creepypastas you completely got me. i knew that it was ted the caver and yet you GOT me. amazing job ladies.

I fucking loved Gather Rabbits. As a trans woman who came from an abusive home and is really interested in education, the whole part where people try to protest how the game is harmful to children because the character runs away from an abusive home rang so true, where like. Everyone concedes to these entirely backwards notions of what keeps kids safe and what puts them in danger, but beyond that there's just so much charm and resilience about everything about Gabbit.

you REALLY had me at the start going "man i havent heard of any of these, i wonder how i missed them, i must not have been that deep in" and "im pretty sure his name was ted the caver" all the way until the ramsey county peeker is real thing happened, you had me GOOD

The thing I love about Gather/Gabbit the most is the fucked up hand. It's doing the long sleeves hanging over a hand, but then the hand is peeking out, making it look they have a broken wrist and can't wave properly. It's something that won't matter with abstraction of a cartoon, but it's definitely something that would be talked about as a hidden scary part of a creepy pasta, probably becoming a part of lore.

the design for gabbit rabbit is so heckin' adorable tho? i want her to get a heartwarming story for real now!
