im trying your plexiglass version for my sixth grade science fair and its not working to well for me. I have 2 six inch long squares both having 4 holes between the center and each corner. I ran wooden dowels through these hole and wrapped the copper wire parallel instead of perpendicular to the plexiglass. This is around my ceramic magnets in the center on a nail. When I hooked this up to my voltmeter and spun it as fast as I could it did not work. Do you have any idea why? If so please respond because my science fair is in only a week and a half. Thanks!!!

@Allexxx96Reloaded Yes, read the main project article "FEEL THE ELECTRONS." This resistance is maximum when the coil is shorted, and zero when the circuit is open.

Other possibilities: The Radio Shack wire has three spools, so only use the thinner one (red color usually.) The wire on the other spools is way too short, and won't give you 250 turns.

Is it important to use an iron nail only or can we use a wooden stick instead?

First built an exact copy, using the parts in the parts list. After you get that version working, then try making changes. (Since often the changes won't work!)

The two red knobs are "binding posts" from Radio Shack or any electronics catalog. They have little screws sticking out the back. Twist the two wires from the generator around the two screws, then fasten them with the little nuts.
