Very good point. Desert MARPAT is great in the fall.

yeah it one of the drawbacks of such a popular camo pattern. But you can get tan/coyote brown gear and it looks really nice together, and it also the color of gear the USMC uses to if you go for realism

Also, the brown is a moew nuetral color then green, so it helps to blend it to everything you encounter in the woodland enviornment.

It works in forests. The ground is covered with dirt, this wya you can prnoe out and be concealed.

Thats why they have some green in it. One of the major reasons for the brown is that it is a more "neutral" color then green.

"Gray woodland" is indeed encountered sometimes. In the fall when the leaves have fallen off the branches.

MARPAT is a nice camo. I live in Canada and usually play in heavy woods so I wear the CADPAT which works great for that type of scenario. I'm thinking about getting MARPAT for the fall though it would be pretty bad ass.

MARPAT is also pretty effective, at least in the US Northeast, in spring and summer. The ground is brown even if there is alot of foliage, and so is tree bark, so MARPAT normally works pretty well.

when it becomes spring, american woods grow a lot of small bushes and trees and it becomes more green, but other than that there is a good ammount of brown from the dirt and dead leaves from winter

Flecktarn is indeed a very nice camo pattern.

ACU is the cut of the uniform. The name of the pattern is Universal Digitial Camo. It was designed to handle the most areas possible without having to switch to a new camo pattern. The idea was to save money by cutting the number of uniforms needed. You can see the UDC (worn by airsoft players) in different countries and different terrains on youtube. The players look like they are wearing white in the dark forests of Scotland and the lush vegetation of the Philippines.

Indeed, the cool part is he wasn't trying to hide. This was a form of "Breaking contact" drill that was being practiced and we decided to record it.

MARPAT is the stuff. As you said its really hard to see people at around 100-200 ft (give or take depending on the other persons eye sight). I was hiding out in the woods on border with a field and only when I started firing did the Op For see me. My friend is still decking out in Multicam though. Works best with my field. But MARPAT still does a very good job.

@tjzil Holy crap! That's the woodland version?! I was convinced it was the desert version. Imagine how much better the desert version would blend in even compared to that. But at the same time the color of dead leafs is darker than the ground in most desert areas. I'm guessing that's why digital woodland worked as good as it did there.

Well that depends. Camo alone wont cut it, you need to take into consideration vegetation, lighting/shadows, color of the surroundings compared to the camo pattern.

@xTJC1988x it's hard to distinguish because woodland MARPAT uses brown as a base, while most woodland camos use green, and desert MARPAT looks brownish (Sandy-brown) as well from a distance.
