Any idea why my craftsman zero turn starts smoking from the back..not the engine.. When I engage the blades.. Doesn't cut off. Seems like something is binding

My mower made a loud bang, stopped and I can't get it to engage. I made sure the yard was free of anything in the way so I don't know if there was anything hiding that I missed. Thanks for this. I'll need to uncover and see what there.

Also make sure your safety switch under the seat is plugged all the way in. It will cause the exact same problem if it’s not. Mower thinks you’re not on the seat and kills the engine.

I took the blade off for safety while I work on it. Mower dies when I engage blade, that isn't stuck.
