What dose the Pinlock do? I haven't seen it before??

The protective film on my pinlock didn't have a sticker telling me to remove the film, so I didn't, and it's like riding with your eyes squinting. And at night the street and car lights look like a fireworks display. It's only when the film started to scratch that I realized my rookie error :)
