Thanks for all the comments folks! I should have mentioned that if the mystery animal is a member of the feline family, it would have to be a cougar or feral house cat (we don't have bobcats or lynx here on Vancouver Island). We do have Pine Martens here too so that's a definite possibility. Thanks so much for all the feedback!

The mystery animal is a pine marten. Great footage! I'm on the North Island myself and I have a few trail cameras up too. I recently caught a mysterious animal on one and I can't figure out what it is because it's too close to the camera. It just appears infront of it and disappears without walking infront. So weird. Haha I loved that comment about a sasquatch too. Lmao

This guy would make a good character in a Star Trek movie.

Looks like a Marten to me. Like a Pine Marten. The spacing and shape of the ears, what appears to be a dark bushy tail.
