I think what made MVA so successful, in the context of the series, is that this arc was built up. Shigaraki Tomura, even before this arc, I always had an appreciation for. I knew that he was one step closer to being a phenomenal villain. Especially with how Horikoshi wrote him during the Overhaul arc and how he managed to outmaneuver the seasoned Yakuza/ stole his stuff. But this arc took it to a new level for him. Horikoshi managed to craft a backstory that is not only is phenomenal on its own, but manages to slot so perfectly with the stuff beforehand. For example, every time when I rewatch the series/ reread the manga and see Tomura scratch, I now know why he does that.

Just from what ive heard of you guys this is honestly the arc i look forward to most out of any series at the moment

Once Shigaraki vs Redestro gets animated I have a feeling this might go down as one of the most memorable moments in anime history in which I have a pretty good feeling Studio Bones will add a lot of time and effort into it's animation and storyboarding

Literally got sad after the arc when we had to return to Deku and the others.

I honestly loved this arc so much more than the black clover war arc. I know I know, Black Clovers war arc was amazing, But i just think seeing the villains perspective makes the story so much more intresting.

The actual reason is that it became a seinen in this arc

In general, MHA wasn't really all that good for me. I enjoyed it, but not as much as something like One Piece or HxH. But god damn, reading through MVA was a fucking wild ride.

Having a arc centered around the villians is not a revolutionary concept. There is another mainstream shounen title that literally just did the same thing aka Attack on Titan with the Marley arc
