Thanks for all the care, support and kind messages. I have recently moved to the tropical island of Puerto Rico, so no more buffalo charging for me for a while.

That tail flicking means that he is agitated. I wouldn’t mess with one or get too close to one that’s doing that.

He flips his tail in a angry motion,he poops at you for his space and cursing at you.

That wasn't just pooping, that was marking.

But the buffalo is NOT using a restroom and is pointing his rear end at the photographer.

Most people who see this will conclude, well if that was a Bull buffalo charge that's not much to worry about. On one of my first MC rides to, and through South Dakota, I stopped at some sort of attraction. The attraction that caught my attention which I stood by a barbed wire, or woven wire fence to take a break as I observed the huge Buffalo. It was about 70' - 80' away. The buffalo began to paw the ground with it's front hoofs, one then the other. Then it galloped straight toward me. It stopped about 30' away. I thought things were back to 'normal' then, it wasn't. Suddenly the buffalo really charged as if the fence wasn't there There was a large metal advertising sign attached to the fence, I dived behind it. the buffalo could not see me. The buffalo made an enormous sound snorting, sliding, and 'hoofing'. I believe if I hadn't got out of sight of the buffalo, it would have went completely through the fence.

Never mess with fuzzy bulls on their own turf.

As a Canadian I think I know what the problem was, he must of just realized he ran out of maple syrup and was curious if you had any.

It is heartening to see that you gleaned a valuable lesson from your encounter, but it begs the question, was the Bison the only participant to pee himself?

20 -60 meters is about 60 - 90 feet (about 3 ft. to a meter.). The Bison was probably concerned about residuals.

I'm on the Bison's side... People ruin wildlife as it should be .. Their turf, we are the intruder...

That tail is not indicating playfulness and 30 yards is no distance at all to an animal like that. He gave you plenty of warning before he charged.

You just finding that out. Your very slow. Should have known that from the beginning.. The bison is not a dog

The guy has acknowledged he made mistakes. But all the experts keep talking about how rude he was, how the buffalo twitched the tail to notify the guy he was annoyed and that we humans are the pest.
