Sometimes we have to go to great lengths to save people from their own stupidity.

Unique warning system..nice

Just because you see a stopped train doesn't mean there isn't another train coming. And never assume that a stopped train will remain stopped. People have been killed and others have lost limbs trying to cross the tracks in between stopped train cars.

This is literally 10 mins away from me & I never noticed this, pretty cool! 🏽
mattp6747 (31 minutes ago)
Lol, the horn of the second train sounded like a multi-part harmony

I live in Elmhurst, about 4 blocks from this York Road crossing of the UP West Line triple track.

I never thought I would miss the sound of an EMD 645 F40PH "Screamer" generating full Head End Power on a passenger train, but I do. Also, I appreciate the novel warning sign as well.

Just imagine hearing this when there is only one track

Many rail crossings in Japan had or still have lighted arrows indicating direction of travel of the train, should the opposite direction arrows light up, that visually indicated that a second train was approaching that particular crossing. It would not indicate a second train coming if they were traveling in the same direction, though. Have not been in Japan since 1992, technology in railroad safety probably varies worldwide in its applications and needs.

WOW! That's the first ever I seen that signal like that. More of those busiest train railroad crossings should bring more of those in the near future.

Never saw this before, I really like it.

I think that's right down the street from Celosi-Edelson at York and Roosevelt road, where you always save more money!

The recording should have been "Danger Will Robinson, Danger"

That guy in the truck probably thought that would last forever

This seems like a good idea in this particular situation, where the station is right by the road so that there's often a stopped train blocking some of the view and providing a good, but wrong, explanation for why the gates are still down. I wonder if these alarms are an expensive add-on. The logic circuit would be pretty simple: if trains are in or near the crossing on two or more tracks, turn on the another train coming warning. I don't know enough about signals to know if actually installing it would be simple or not. I know people should see the 3 Tracks sign and wait anyway, but still.
