The green rock in the intro is emeralds in matrix. That was found in Spruce Pine, NC at the Crabtree emerald mine. Lots of great rocks in the Carolina's. Thanks for watching, Jeff.

You can never shake it too rough. The better the action the quicker and better you stratify the material. This gets the heavies to the bottom of the pan. Keeping the pan with lots of water in it also keeps the material "fluid" so it will stratify. A dredge does the same kind of action only much harder and faster than you could ever do panning.
