You can also try it in carrier current mode by connecting the antenna output (without the loading coil or capacitor) to the center ground pin on an AC outlet. That way it safely uses the AC wiring as the antenna and you can pick up the signal anywhere in the building. The signal drops off rapidly outside, but if you just want to listen to the signal indoors, then it works fine.

My AM Stereo generator has a metal case and a 3-prong power cord, so it is grounded through the AC line as well. I don't know why putting the transmitter's signal into what is supposed to be the ground works, but it does!

I already have the AC line functioning as a ground for the transmitter and the range is actually about 2 miles. Its working really well but yea, for me carrier current would make quite a bit of sense especially since I live in an apartment building.
