Mr Conker is right. A flapper disc at an angle across not with the circle will break the glaze and take out imperfections enough to get a budget minded person along. The brake pads will confirm.

At least take the rotor off to avoid getting your hand caught! This is dangerous

When the new pads seat in to the new or turned or cleaned rotors they tranfer pad material to the rotor this material works with pads to help stop the car and reduce noise when reusing rotors that are in good condition and above minimum thickness its a good practice to clean this material off with a rotor refinishing disc to give the rotor a non-directional finish so the new pads can bed it

My bad. You might want to turn your volume down a little bit once the sandpaper hits the rotor

Hey is a great idea I was thinking about doing myself but for a few bucks you could get the pads and rotors instead of going through that dangerous process but great job

Looks like aluminum oxide sand paper. If so definitely don't do this as the aluminium oxide will embed itself in the cast iron disc. Better to use garnet sandpaper.

Definitely will work but only if it’s a front wheel drive, thanks

Really good idea, minimal disassembly, same results as doing this with a die grinder.

So many people saying this is wrong etc, that its gonna be the same soon again and the cause is cheap stuff. Lol. Thanks for showing people nice tricks like this even tho you get bombarded with dumb comments from people who don't know their shit.

My brake pads are like pretty new but when they replace them last I guess they didn't pay attention to the rotor because it's shiny as hell and squeals like hell when breaking in reverse. Is doing this without replacing the pads worth it? Because I don't want to waste practically brand new pads

I have to do this to my BMW front rotor's. I have the same deal as you.. Glazing only in the front of the rotor's though. I have to all 4 wheels off the ground, I'm AWD.

Have a wild guess where the grit from the sandpaper goes? Straight to your brake pads hardwear introducing a horrobile squeal I can see your concept working but you have to dismantle the hardwear and clean it up for best results.

So how was the glazing removed from the actual brake pad? Just asking for a friend.
