I just left the dealership with a Lexmoto adrenaline (125cc) after my cbt.Stopped at a junction in a line of traffic. Did the usual, mirror check and life saver. Traffic started moving and I started to pull off. And Waaaaaaa-brrrrrrrr-brrr-br-plonk- clunk clunk stall horn FAIL. I was still in third lmfao. Then started her up again, dropped down into first.... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAngggggggg - the fucker is stuck in neutral. I role the bike a little back and forwards clunk it into first, this time checking what my bike said about the gear I was in and I pulled off buttery smooth. During my CBT, the first five mins of being out on the road I downshifted way too early with not enough revs. Engine immediately started braking me hard. Looked in mirror.... Fuck white BMW up my arse no time to correct. Yanked the clutch in, indicated and stopped slowly at the side of the road. The BMW passed, I reset and took off again. Lots of poo shot out but I was safe. Then I stalled at a junction 4 times getting more panicked each time. Lights changed back to red, lots of angry drivers, but I calmed myself down and found the bighting point and again took off like nothing happened. And the worst FAIL of all today, not really my fault but still a fail on my part, at a double mini roundabout (these things were invented to fuck up learners), Traffic clears I start pulling off, I look to my right and there's a fucking great big lorry not indicating and coming in fast. I panic, I yank the breaks, clunk, bike falls over and I broke the nob off the clutch leaver. I look back while picking the bike back up, the fucking guy doing the CBT with me fucking rear ended me (which is what tipped my bike over) and he was also trying to pick up his bike. Luckily there were no cars behind us and the instructor was around the corner waiting after the roundabout(s). He didn't see what happened at the time but we both owned up at the end of the CBT. He brushed it off and said it's fine, and it was the guy behind me's fault for not leaving enough space between me and him. The bikes are expected to be dropped as it is a learning bike owned by the trainers. But man that shook me up. And AGAIN no biggy checked the bike, there was no other visible damage (we collided at like 5 mph), we reset and took off like nothing happened. The moral of the story is, if you fuck up, you fucked up. Shit happens. The best thing to do is to take a second, get shit straight in your head and reset everything. And do it SAFELY. If anyone actually makes it this far through the bible I just wrote of my first bike rides EVER, thanks for the read! I hope you can learn from my mistakes. :)

I'm doing the pre-learner course as of today and let's just say I wasn't expecting to actually start and ride a motorcycle within 15 minutes of starting lol. Talk about thrown in the deep end with no prior experience riding or driving manual car. Oh and it was pouring down rain all day. Floods literally everywhere and he's me doing a Learner course.

Scary isn't a fail. your first time out SHOULD be. It's a self preservation instinct. You're performing a dangerous task unassisted for the first time.

Lol, I think we all made the same mistakes.

The part I find hardest is shifting. I often dump the clutch, coast while down shifting or forget to close the throttle.

thanks for sharing; I made them all at my recent motorcycle training. Seems like I'm not the only one, which is kind of a relief...;-)

Did you ever get in trouble for having a go pro on your helmet? Apparently it's illegal in SA
