werewolf transformations are so quick and instantaneous these days hardly any pain involved anymore

I'll never tire of the sounds of muscle fiber snapping and sinew pops. The secret to any successful metamorphosis scene.

Half-way through the American Werewolf in London transformation, I get an ad for a Back pain treatment

Despite everyone saying they hated the Van Helsing transformation, I have to say that him in Werewolf form is the single coolest looking werewolf ever

I like American Werewolf because it is slow and painful. We are suppose to feel bad for him and it is absolutely gut wrenching to watch for viewers not accustomed to things like that. But Howling could have stood to have sped up the footage. It made the woman look stupid for not at least trying to get away and watching the entire, slow, transformation.

In my opinion both slow, agonizing transformations and fast, tearing-out transformations have purpose. If the lore suggests werewolves have no control over when they shift, it should be gruesome and deliberate, like American Werewolf, while a werewolf that can shift on command should be able to simply let the beast out, like in Van Helsing.

At this point I'm pretty sure it's just a historical fact that An American Werewolf in London has the best werewolf transformation scene in the history of film, and it always will. The Wolfman remake from 2010 is also super underrated for how good it is and the transformation sequences are all S tier.

The second transformation is from the great classic called The Howling. The best one IMO! That was back when scary movies were actually scary. Becoming a werewolf currently is more "eye candy" then substance. The camera work with that Howling transformation was genius! It made you feel the moment. It made you say "werewolf!? No thanks"! Most of all it made damn sure you turned that light on in the hallway as a kid lol

For cgi, they did a pretty good job with the Wolf Man 2010 Remake transformation.

Sorry, but the practical effects of An American Werewolf In London and The Howling beat those CGI transformations every time.

The transformation in the Howling always made me laugh. All the bubbling on the face just didn't have the pain and terror as American Werewolf in London.
