Frieza goes to wanting Dragonballs to wish for Immortality in the Namek saga to wanting to wish to grow 5cm. Imagine how lackluster the Namek saga would be if he and his men did all that stuff to the Namekian people to grow 5cm. Removes the tension. Honestly, it feels more like a throwback to Commander Red in OG Dragonball who wanted the Dragonballs to be taller as well.
