Whitebeard is the best image of an ideal man. Someone who is strong and brilliant but not selfish. Someone who is willing to show compassion to all others but will protect those close to him. He truly cares for his thousands of crew as if they were his own flesh and blood. He took on and entire military to rescue one man that is true love. He is unwavering in his beliefs and willing to sacrifice everything for his family, his crew. He died standing having no scars on his back never running and never showing fear.

The best Yonkou we've seen so far. Appeared for a mere 30 chapters, but truly captured the hearts of all One Piece fans. Resembled love for his comrades, terror to his enemies, and had admirable qualities. Rest in peace, Edward Newgate. Truly one oc the best character in anime history. Truly worthy of having a bounty of 5 billion, despite sickness and disease.

He made Akainu piss his pants and when he was dishonourably betrayed by Blackbeard and his crew getting him all at once while he was weak. This legend still confirmed the existence of the one piece a gigantic blow to the marines that would give pirates more motivation to fight. He did all of this just to save Ace. LEGEND

Whitebeard vs ALL of the marine army basicly... The amount of injuries he took, the pain he sustained, and the damage he brought just touched my heart, I was amazed by his will and endurance... To die standing is just too manly :'(

Oda made one hell of a character.

He died standing after 267 sword wounds, 152 gun wounds and shot by canon 46 times and with no scars on his back because he never got one while running away.

His only wish was to have a family and he died protecting his family to his very last breath
