Description
Welcome to Piano Angelicus. My name is Louise Lipatti-Mesme and I'm a pianist living in Yorkshire in the UK. Enjoy all things piano here - classical repertoire, amazing location performances, tutorials, relaxing covers and more!
I began playing the piano when I was 6 after asking for a piano when i was 2! I have studied with many great and eminent teachers including Yu Chun Yee at the Royal College of Music, John Lenehan, John Barstow, Alan Rolands, Elizabeth de La Porte, and various great pianists in masterclasses. Earlier I studied with Sally Mellor and her mentor Ruth Nye. Ruth famously was a student of the great Claudio Arrau, who if following back teacher/pupil we get to Beethoven (and Haydn). Its a lineage I am very proud of.

Hello, Just wanted to let you know how Passacaglia is pronounced. It is Italian. You are saying Pasa "cag" lia. The g is silent. It is sounds like Pasa Callia.

Wow! I’m new at learning piano and the way you present this material is awesome. With you explaining in details, not only the technique, but also emotions this piece can create is great. And lastly, seeing the keyboard and fingers placement is so helpful. Thank you for taking that piece apart so brilliantly. I can read music so, I’m giving myself three weeks to memorize it and play it with a certain ease. Thank you again.

This is the most beautiful tutorial I’ve ever come across. Thank you so much. Your love for music is evident. You have so patiently explained the history, technique, variations and i love the way you have explained character and emotional changes along the way. I am 33, from India and have just started playing classical, although i can play by ear, but have difficulty in reading sheet music. I aim to play this piece as you do. Someday i will. God bless you.

I just have to say that you have a gift in teaching. You're definitely born to be a music teacher! I really admire your patience in teaching us the technique to play this piece and explaining the character of the piece. You also went through section by section while teaching us how to play this piece of music. This is indeed a lovely classical piece of music and I love listening to this tune. Brilliant work there, Louise! More tutorials, please!
