Truly impressive! The perfect weather for an incredible display of steam, with the wind adding so much drama. You deserve an award for this one.

Well done the driver (and fireman).

The power of steam never fails to impress. Goose bumps just watching it.

This is the definition of devotion ! I can't think of many who would choose to go out in this weather ! Thanks.

That brought back memroies of going to school on the bus on a frosty morning and looking out over the Stour valley in Dorset and seeing that plume of steam that meant the kids from Stur were already there. Thank you.

Well done Nige my friend you Steve + Stephen Brass and the dedicated hardened fans do such a good job thanks so much for sharing, the wind was really horrendous so thanks for giving the rest of us the chance to view of your efforts. Cheers. Thank you also for previus warnings of tests etc on my local line. Brian

That must be the one of the most exciting things you can do with a massive steam unit anywhere in the world. Damned impressive

What an amazing sight. It literally brought a tear to my eye.

we wanted to see fs at Carlisle but no west coast trains running and too many fallen trees to drive-anyway this was much better thank you for braving Shap and sharing this with us much appreciated please stay safe and well xx

I’m absolutely amazed that a steam driven train is still in every day usage. It just points out the difference between the US and UK. We’ve had at least 2 premier steam trains, the S1and T1 used primarily on the Pennsylvania Railroad. They were notably record breakers for speed. But, they were scraped long ago.

Fantastic. Beautiful countryside as back drop to iconic locomotive. Weather Conditions look severe but the Scotsman prevails. Really enjoyed viewing
