Worn axles are a common problem, sometimes the boot is not even broken. Glad I could help!

@TiredOldFart I do have a honda. I said my Rotar Guard became slightly bent and was slightly scraping against the Rotor when I turned. I straightened the Guard which fixed the problem.

@bseriest It takes a few thousand miles. It depends how much grease leaks out, and how much dust/sand gets in. A junkyard may have it, but they come from China now, so they're cheap. who knows how good??

It's still attached to the hub and in the transmission. If I pull on it (doesn't take that much force) it has .5 inch play in the cv joint near the hub end.

@CORVAIRWILD Only joking with you , you got more in 15 seconds that makes sense than a lot of the long vids on you tube. Respect

You don't need a wheel alignment if you remove the lower ball joint attachment. Thx fer the compliment

That sounds like it's OK, they can slide in and out to allow for wheel travel.

I found out what the problem was. On my Honda there is a thin metal rotar guard. It just got bent slightly, rubbing against the rotar when I turned. I just bent it back with my hands and that fixed he problem.

Have 2001 BMW 330xi. That's the noise I've been hearing. Replaced both left and right front axles. Don't buy the $500 axle (each) at BMW dealer. Instead try online parts import/foreign car warehouse. You can get these $500 axles for about $120 each.

it will eventually effect handling, when your wheel falls off doing 70 mph down the interstate....If it hasnt already, take your car in for inspection...neglecting it can get you killed.
