I wasn't kidding. If they are out and about on rubbish day, and the neighbourhood bins have been emptied, Sam insists on my wife driving past Carol and Darryl's place to make sure their bin has been emptied. It's actually hard for my wife to get out of the house on bin day until they've seen the rubbish man...

What can I say? He loves bins, he loves rubbish trucks. "Daddy, look at THAT bin - it's OVERFULL" or "It's tipped OVER" or one of the many other observations you can make about rubbish bins. "It's PURPLE!" would be my favorite.
