A CVO should come stock with a 131 in my honest opinion.

Love my street glide ST, the 117 is putting a lot of pep out. At this point getting a 131 or 135 would be for the most part "bragging rights" they would be more then id ever use. But ya id love to have one just not budget friendly.

Love my stage 1 tune. My 114 runs very nice. I like built machines. Car's truck's and bikes. We do have to live within our means. Always been my biggest problem. I have a lot of ways. Just never enough means ️

I've done just about every other upgrade to my Twin Cam 103 with the exception of the cam. That includes the 2 into 1 Trask Assault, RWD 14" shocks, +2 suspension with Patriot Springs in front, MJK floorboards, Kraus risers with Wolf one top tree clamp. I plan on doing a cam specifically Fueling 574s. My Road Glide is for all intents and purposes a "performance bagger" without a 110 or a Milwaukee 8 for that matter. No, no one really needs a 131, or the new 135 CI engine, they are cool though.

Really good points Ty. Some of the other things no one talks about is the bottom end isn’t upgraded. Then the clutch and transmission. When you start bumping up the power to components that are built for a specific power range you are playing with fire, IMO. Your practically point is spot on.

I certainly understand why people do it, but the longevity is bound to be reduced. Mostly, I think if you’re a local rider, bike nighter, or pack rider, it might be worth the upgrades. As you said, the cost plus the labor is very expensive. Will you get your money back? Probably not! Very good topic and thanks for sharing your views on this one. Ride safe Ty!

I upgraded my SG suspension and got rid of the factory lean condition replacing the ecm, pipes, cams and intake. It's a much better bike now than when new. I considered building the motor but instead took the $10k and purchased a 2009 ducati 1198S with 3500 miles. When riding the SG I just don't feel the need for speed. I bought it to chill but I still need a bike that boogies so the Ducati was the answer. 400 pounds and close to 200 hp stock does the trick plus it's a twin!

I totally agree! I had a S&S t143 motor on a Road King at the same time that I had a 103 on a road glide. They both merged on the freeway just as good and I pretty much rode them about the same. Aside from the t143 sounding like an absolute monster nothing else was different and in the end I found it was a waste of $14K in motor, transmission, and upgraded drivetrain parts such as clutches and compensators. A lot of people don't take into account all the extras that you have to do to the drivetrain and fuel system when adding that much power. Not to mention the labor.
