yeah I know, maybe Greg Lake influenced that. the opening of "The Sage" is affected by Edvard Grieg's "Solveig's Song". ;o) - what you said about the times: they broke up the doors to new musical horizons, but were tough times too (and a lot we've heard only by broadcast!). nowadays you have the whole choice, in the 90ies some very good musicians too, like Jeff Buckley or Elliott Smith... :)

@media122 hi, thanks! you're partially right - the first 2 chords are almost the same, but then The Sage proceeds in another way (check it out). the question was, how did I play the version I had posted before. at 1:28 starts the demo how KC and Asia played the piece. cheers! :)

hi murdo, thanks for your nice comment - and congrats! don't miss to compare it with on stage versions by KC and Asia, for my experience it's the only thing you can trust in :)... thanks for sub too, more Procol to come soon... ;o)

Have you ever noticed the start of this song is very similar to the guitar in 'The Sage' by Emerson Lake and Palmer

@riotstarter001 no problem! :) the only problem is I'm no good guitar teacher, I just watched Asia vids to have a look at their fretboard. which version/part do you mean? (it's simple anyway)
