Can easily see how rifle fire from the better british regiments was mistaken for machine gun fire sometimes
koolyman (9 minutes ago)
I guess that's why the british took their sweet time moving on to semi autos

Dear Norm, if you are reading this then I apologize I didn't get a chance to respond to your message back when YT had a personal inbox. I recall you lost this account or made a new one. At any rate, if you see this message and still want to chat please reply to this message. I hope things have been well and thanks for being one of the first practitioners of this art on YT.

Awesome demonstration. I'd heard they could be shot fast, but this is a good visual of the potential.
Van020280 (31 minutes ago)
Imagine 30-40 men doing that 1000 yds out. That is the idea of the mad minute. Opposing forces would be greatly intimidated by the barrage of "machine gun fire" the heard and reported a such.
Monster404ftp (47 minutes ago)
Too right mate! They were designed for this kind of shooting. British SMLE's make a mauser feel cheap.

This bug got patched in the version 88.666

I've heard you could fire them fast, but.... DANG. That's almost as fast as a semi-auto in spots....
NormanMatchem (2 hour ago)
Thanks, though keep in mind that there is little-to-no accuracy in the way I'm shooting. Troops back in the day were trained to hit a man-sized target at 200-300m at least 20 times in a minute if I'm not mistaken. I tried my hand at a real mad minute a few months ago, managed 17 aimed shots in a minute with my 1942 No.4. Only 9 hits on a 18" target in 60 seconds but with more practice I could definitely see 20-25 being possible. The fastest troops could manage 35-38, truly impressive!

Finally! A real mad minute demonstration. I was starting to think it was a myth because everyone shooting it on YouTube shoots it really slow and still call it the mad minute. This is my first time actually seeing a real mad minute.
Milo_1368 (8 hours ago)
That's some damned fast shooting! Doubt anyone could actually hit anything more than a few yards away like this though. That doesn't make this any less impressive in regards to speed.
Libsenth (4 hours ago)
Finally a nice demonstration of quick shooting which I've spent a while finding!
spitfiremk26 (9 hours ago)
10 rounds in five seconds. that's what's awesome about all the lee enfields, rapid fire, amazing stopping power, perfect accuracy, everything a bolt action rifle can have is nailed in the lee enfield. call it an exaggeration, but I think it's the best combat rifle ever made before the 1950s.
xxskippernate409xx6 (10 hours ago)
After days of practicing with mine, i can go that fast dry firing. Now need to try it live...but i will progress like i did dry. I learned that speed by first cycling painfully slow until it was comfortable to speed up.
Gasbaggful (20 hours ago)
Now that's how you speed shoot an Enfield! I used to do the same thing at the range and the rangemaster would scream at me for "rapid fire". When he saw it was a bolt action he'd ask me to do it again. As for accuracy, it wasn't what I was trying for. Let's just say if you were being charged you'd hit them no problem. The fastest bolt action ever made!

Although the .303 round didn't quite have the energy behind it that the 8mm and 30.06 does, the Mark 7 .303 was designed to tumble so it was still very lethal, also the Mark 8 .303 (only meant to be used in machine guns) had more energy behind it than either the German or American rounds with a muzzle velocity of around 2,900 fps.
