I sent this to a a friend of mine who is an NYPD officer, and even he said this was absurd. The cop blocked traffic, to make up a phony rule that didn't exist, while people are getting run down by hit and run drivers here in NYC. He's the kind of cop to give you a ticket for doing 26 in a 25 to "enforce" Vision Zero. What a joke.

so the reason he pulled you over was a lie, therefore he stole your information under color of law. that cop needs charges brought against him.

That was an illegal stop under false pretense. The cop actually broke the law by pulling you over and telling you that you can't have a gopro. You should file charges.

What the cop did was ILLEGAL and you should sue him

You absolutely got profiled. I commend you on being cooperative and respectful to the officer. I do not think that he deserved it because he profiled you and that sucks, but you did the right thing and that is why you got to drive away, and did not turn into a statistic. Way to go man!

So the cop pulled an emergency stop and disrupted traffic in order to harass you based upon a complete lie.

Your right to record is Constitutionally protected, you should file both and a complaint and a suit.

if i ever get pulled over for my cam, i will ask the top to issue me a ticket because i will want to go to court and get the actual penal code prohibiting such devices, and if enough of us do this, then the lame ass excuse will not longer be used as a reason to pull somebody over.
