I had the same problem on my 1988 GMC Sonoma I ended up changing idle air control valve cost about 40 bucks, solved the problem..

Replaced the throttle body. It also had a throttle position sensor and the idle air control valve installed on it already.

I had the same problem my truck is the same as yours and tried to clean it up and no fix if they get a few thousands off is not going to work, I've checked the ohms and it was good but it gave me a lot of problems so I have to buy a new one so I found the part on ebay for 120 bucks hope is running great now

I have the 3RZ in my Taco, but my experiences are a little bit different. I ran it out of gas a couple months ago, and my truck keeps wanting to stall on me when I'm at a light or a stop sign. Could this be a symptom of the TPS, or idle air control valve being stuck open/closed?

Try taking out and cleaning the unit or go to a junkyard and pick one up off of a wrecked vehicle of the same part number

I got the opposite problem on my 2.7. when the engine gets warm the revs drop too low at idle and it stalls. Could be so many reasons. Not sure where to start.

I got the SAME fuckin problem! took off my tb and pulled IAC today and cleaned the shit out of it.. lol problem is even worse now.. any luck fixing this for you? should I buy a new IAC?
