Weirdest thing that happened to me as marine at camp Pendleton was one weekend I was walking on a trail and I looked up and there was a huge owl on a cactus tree looking at me then it flew towards me and landed 5 feet in front of me and grabbed a big ass rattlesnake on the trail and took off! Owl saved my ass!!!

Sorry that I misread California as Carolina, that was totally my mistake.

I was on the Safed Koh mountain on patrol. We walked for hours without anyone talking. About 3am we heard someone calling different names. Each name was someone on the team. We stopped got ready for a fight. This went on for ten minutes, then nothing complete silence . It was scary we continued on without incident. What ever it was called us by our last names. I’ll never forget the sound of that voice.

It was theorised that a civilian scrapper, was collecting used ordnance parts, and either got hit with ordnance from a unit training or came across an unexploded mortar or artillery round.
