UPDATE: I don’t know what this person is saying, but the origin of this image appears to have been found!

I wish YouTubers would do a series on “where is this image from?” Just finding the origins of creepypasta images or image based urban legends, that kind of thing. I’d be the first to watch that series

Memes in the early days of Japanese internet are actually insane because they're not funny outside of japan and are the most horrifying things in the world

I've never heard of you before, but your calm voice makes me feel safe.

this single picture gave me nightmares as a kid

Of course both this and the original Jeff the Killer image originate from Japan. They always be pumping out the most terrifying shit. And the worse part? Both of these images end with us not even knowing their origin, so the mystery only amplifies the creepiness.

Normally when i just see this image for a few seconds, i just find the image kind of stupid, like a dumb jumpscare. But the longer i look at it, it gets more and more unsettling and honestly terrifying. Really interesting.

It's completely natural that sometimes objects from the Internet would have strange origins, but we don't really think about that in the abstract. These actual digital artifacts illustrate the strangeness of the Internet to us in a new way.

We should get some Japanese person to dig through archives. Also yeah, it DEFINABLE looks photoshopped. The OG pic could be from a movie, it looks straight out of one.

This image honestly gave me some paranoia and anxiety to the point where it was hard for me to sleep

I started and abandoned a project a while back where I took images that gave me the creeps (mostly distorted faces) and I made them a bit more endearing: this face was among them. It’s cool that that’s a general human response to scary imagery.

God I'm glad the algorithm recommended me in day time. My heart'd suddenly stop if I saw it at midnight-

At first this scared the shit out of me, but then I realized its basically a "️️" jumpscare
