The ticking is most likely the cam phasers all injectors in all cars make a clicking sound. If you hear the noise in the truck at idle and give it some gas the sound goes away around 1800 rpm it's most likely the phasers. If it gets louder its most likely an exhaust leak. Phasers are very very common on the 3 valve 5.4

Works great for me. I always notice better throttle response and a slight bit more power on the butt-dyno. A can is fairly inexpensive so it's worth a try at least!

Thank you Andrew. Poured it in vaccum line and gas tank. Will put in crankcase before next oil change.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. When you mix the Seafoam in your oil it is recommended you drive for no more than 100 miles before changing your oil. Apparently it really cleans out your oil system, but you need to change the oil fairly soon after adding it.

Well I would go with what they suggest over what I suggest. I have done it on mine, but I bet they have tested it on far more vehicles for sure. Thanks man! The exhaust is simply a removed muffler. I had a glass pack, then we got an F150 with the muffler deleted at the dealership I was working at and it sounded great. So I just took mine off haha.

@dustinnop The truck had around 64,XXX. I had previously seafoamed it at around 45,XXX which is why there wasn't as much smoke as there could have been.

I don't want to brag...but my plugs came out like butter at 100K. I used carb cleaner spray with a hose to wet the plugs, let soak a few hours, cracked them with a breaker bar 1/8 turn or so, then soaked them again over night. Came out super easy no break offs the next morning. Good luck!

@MR1000101 Thanks man! If your ticking started recently than it could very likely be a small exhaust leak. Might be worth checking out.

I'm curious as to the effects on the cats and oxygen sensors in the exhaust. Any thoughts?

anybody tried adding some in the crank case right before an oil change? I read it will get rid of engine sludge and dirt...
