I've seen a theory suggesting before that God, in his shame for having made hell, made it so none that would enter it would ever have to bare witness to its horror. Though another interesting part is that Machines and the Flesh Prisons are the only beings in hell which have not entered it by dying.

Theory: Hell can only alter parts of itself where it isn't being watched. This explains why very few level changes happen within your sight. Minos, as the judge of Hell, likely kept his eyes as a sign of his status and so that Hell wouldn't be able to mess with him (Since he's the judge of Hell). This also lines up with flesh prison and panopticon having eyes as they can observe their surroundings preventing Hell from breaking Minos and Sisyphus out (Hell would want them released since they would be very interesting to watch).

A big thing I've noticed in ULTRAKILL's story is a metaphorical "blindness".

Virtues having their eyes specifically removed before being transferred to hell gives me the idea that being able to fully see hell allows it to extend its influence over you. There are points where hell seems to be communicating with V1 in its mind directly, but maybe the progress of that corruption is slowed because V1 sees everything through low-poly simplifications.

I'd like to note that some husks have eyes yet are not visible from the outside. They drop eye gibs upon death.

It's interesting how it's specifically husks and Virtues that are mentioned- both coming from humans.

i have two explinations:

The terminals say the stalkers limbs were reversed to carry heavy things easier;meaning those yellow marks were originally it's eyes,which probably got dried out.

The greater the willpower a person had, the stronger and more developed their husk is. Insurrectionists clearly have a very human-like body barring the arm and the sliced off bit, so they may have had eyes before the angels sliced them in half. The way the corpse of king Minos too has eyes.

I personally think greater and supreme angels have eyes and there may be angels that can summon eyes which is why flesh prisons can do it. Idrk why eyes are important tho
